While Merritt Lander decided to attend the University of Texas School of Law because her grandmother had been an attorney, she realized during her first semester of Constitutional Law that there was something truly wonderful about the document that served to define this country. And that love led her to Johns & Counsel PLLC.
A graduate of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, Merritt has a B.A. in English. After earning a master’s degree in English literature from Mills College, Merritt moved to Thailand for a year. Having spent years examining texts, creating arguments, and admiring her grandmother, she decided during her time abroad that law school was her next step. She was admitted to the University of Texas and is now an unreasonably proud member of the class of 2017. During her time at Texas Law, she took as many constitutional law classes as she could, participated in moot court, was vice president of the Federalist Society, and served as a staff editor for the Texas Journal of Civil Liberties and Civil Rights.
Merritt is thrilled to be practicing law in areas where she can protect individual rights, help defend the Constitution that has her heart, and work for causes that matter to her on a personal level.
